To foster students' numerical sense
and enhance their interest in
and problem-solving abilities in mathematics.
Characteristics of the Curriculum
Learn through Inquiry-based learning
By engaging in inquiry-based learning activities, such as weight investigation games, students can enhance their critical thinking skills and develop an interest in learning mathematics. This approach promotes active learning by involving students in the process of discovery and encouraging the application of mathematical knowledge to real-life situations.
The Model Method
The Model Method from Singapore is widely employed in our teaching practices. With the help of the specially designed "Bar Model Ruler" provided by the school, students learn to visualise mathematical concepts. This approach enhances students' comprehension and their ability to solve complex problems in a structured and intuitive manner.
Development of Mental Calculation Skills
We place a strong emphasis on helping students improve their accuracy and mental math skills. Through various activities, such as Mental Math Warm-ups, Quick Math Challenges, etc and school-based materials, we provide students with an environment and training for mental calculation, aiming to enhance their numerical sense.
